Guys, the mullet is back. It reemerged for a brief period in 2006 with a GHD-straightened spike sprouting from the back of your head, but this time it’s for real.
The mullet returns in two schools: soft and luscious, embracing your hair’s natural movement, or strict, straight and cropped on top. Not convinced? Just look at all the cool girls lopping off their top layers.
Model of the moment, Manami Kinoshita, is a mullet purist. Shaved short on top, with long tendrils at the back, no wonder she’s a Balenciaga runway favourite.
Mica: absolute goddess and mullet trailblazer. She’s sported the style for quite some time and never looks anything less than heaven. We know she’s the screenshot you’re taking to your hairdresser next week.
Cris Herrmann makes a good case for a mullet AND a perm. Natural beachy curls, paired with soft short layers on top results in a beautiful mane.
Techno DJ and Rihanna favourite, Sita Abellan, gives good cyber mullet. Dyed a steely sapphire blue and always paired with excellent eyewear.
Angel-faced model Julia Campbell-Gillies nails 1970s-inspired shaggy layers, basically looking like the missing member of The Runaways and the reason we’ll be taking a pair of nail scissors to our hair this evening.
Our new Instagram obsession, Yana Bovenistier. Just IMAGINE looking this cool.
A short, short fringe, bob-length back and tufty little side tendrils. We like your style, Sarah Abney.
Photographer and co-founder of Sukeban magazine, Erika Bowes keeps hers choppy on top and wispy on the sides to demonstrate her on-point earring game.
