Fuzzy socks, crackling fires, piping hot cocoa, soft sweaters — what do all these things have in common? They all fit snuggly into the Danish concept of "hygge," (pronounced hoo-guh), which translates to cosiness, comfort, and general conviviality. And they're probably the last thing you want near you when the temperatures rise above 80 degrees. But you can have Hygge in the summer too, says Ole Henriksen, the Denmark-born founder of the synonymous skin-care line. "You sit on your terrace or balcony and create the same environment," he says.
For us, we're holding on to Hygge in our beauty routines. First it was with our hair (which is still going strong) and now our makeup is decidedly moving toward the warmer side as well. Think: orange eyeshadow, warm brown cut creases, rose gold highlighter, and more — all of which flatter most skin tones and feel more inviting than other cool-toned variations.

Warm Brown
Unlike bold oranges or yellows, a layer of brown wrapped around the eyes provides subtle warmth without appearing over-the-top.
Simply sweep a matte terracotta or cocoa shade onto your lids and lower lashlines. To brighten your eyes even more, try dusting an iridescent champagne shadow onto the inner corners like beauty blogger Raye Boyce did here.
Sunset Eyes
If you're willing to put in a little extra shadow work, sunset eyes are the look of the summer. Here, beauty blogger Roxette Arisa Howe rocks yellow, pink, and purple on top of a dramatic cat-eye.
If intricate shadow work isn't your cup of tea, a swipe of pink liner over a yellow or orange lid will give a similarly sunny effect. We love Make Up For Ever's Aqua XL Shadows because they can be used as shadows or liner.
Orange
If you told us we'd be obsessed with orange makeup a year ago, we would have looked at you like you were crazy. Pink? Sure. Blue? Totally. But orange has historically been a colour we've deemed hard to wear, that is, until now.
Countless celebrity renditions of the trend have proven that orange can be super wearable, just take Joan Smalls' burnt sienna version or blogger Jaclyn Hill's look. And achieving the same effect at home couldn't be easier thanks to an onslaught of orange-toned makeup that has hit the market recently.
Yellow
Yellow makeup isn't for the faint of heart but those bold enough to wear it will love its punchy effect on the eyes. Wear it solo or pair it with a dusting of copper shadow on your lower lashline for even more definition.
Or make like beauty blogger Alice King and tap a lighter, iridescent shade onto the center of your eyelid. This trick will make your eyes look bigger and fresher.
Rose Gold
Rose gold has made its way into just about every aspect of our lives from iPhones to prosecco, but we're partial to the makeup version — which gives the face a romantic glow.
Wear the shade all over like beauty blogger Hermosa Lynn or opt for a wash on just the lids or cheeks. Either way you'll need a good palette (we like this one) to get you started.
